Christmas 2010

Well, I think the boys have had a wonderful Christmas! We have had a full week of festivities, starting a week ago with a family get-together, then Christmas play at church on Sunday, two exciting days at school, Wednesday baking and caroling, Thursday shopping and lights, three family get-togethers yesterday, one today, Santa and finally a white Christmas. I have eaten so much over the past week. I think I could go without food for several weeks!
The Christmas lights at Charlotte Motor Speedway were okay. The best parts were meeting Santa and driving on the track.
Jacob could not wait to get on Santa's lap. Jeremiah tried to run away and Johnathan drew a blank. He couldn't think of anything to ask for. We didn't know when we got there that you could actually drive on the track. I made the mistake of saying that the van would flip over, so Johnathan screamed the entire time that we were going to flip.

NC Zoo, 11/27/2010

A family photo at the NC Zoo!
A photo of Johnathan looking at the chimp named Jonathan
Jeremiah won the game!
The ring-tailed lemurs. They are the newest addition to the NC Zoo.
So, scary! Johnathan piloting a helicopter with Jacob and Jeremiah.

I have to say, I absolutely love the NC Zoo and being members of the NC Zoo Society. It so worth the money! For us, a one-day trip to the zoo is the same as a year's membership.
The boys had a wonderful time yesterday. It was a little cool, but not having to fight a crowd was nice. It did get a little more crowded as the day grew warmer.
We ate lunch at the Junction Cafe, but I think next time, we'll take our lunch. It was a little expensive for the amount of food. We also watched Dora and Diego in 4-D. The boys loved it of course, but that too, was a little expensive for a 9-minute video.
I think we enjoyed watching the ring-tailed lemurs the most. On our last visit, the lemurs were not on exhibit yet, so it was exciting to see them for the first time. They ran around chasing each other, pulling each other's tails. The red-ruffed lemurs didn't like the cold much and we only saw one. When the zookeeper came to feed them, she could not get them to come out.
We also were able to see the black bears and grizzly bear better today. They evidently enjoy the cooler weather. When we've been on hot days, they are either hard to spot, or the crowd is so hard to fight that we really don't get to see them.
We also saw the geyser for the first time yesterday. We weren't expecting to see it, since the website says that it's only supposed to operate April through October. The boys liked watching the water. I would love to take them to see Old Faithful!

Thankful

I am thankful to have three brilliant, handsome boys! Every day is an adventure and I love every minute of it, even though I sometimes get frustrated. I am thankful for the messes they (all four boys in my house) make and thankful that I am able to clean up after them.
Every night, the boys say their prayers and they thank God for people and sometimes things. I pray that they will always be thankful for the people God places in their lives. I also pray that they will always be thankful for each other!
